A taste of the Ritz is taking place this weekend to boost the funds of the Jam Jar Army, which is approaching the £10,000 mark.

A Ritz Tea Room Experience will be taking place on Saturday in Etal Village Hall.

There will be two sittings for tea, one at 3pm and the other at 4.30pm.

It will consist of tea, savouries and cakes with an old-fashioned waitress service, while entertainment will be provided by pianist Peter Brown.

Tickets cost £5 or £3 for a child.

They can be booked in advance by emailing etal20@aol.com or by calling 07970 937719.

The fund-raising total so far for the Alnwick Playhouse Youth Theatre is £9,592.19.
