A charity which supports older people is calling on Northumberland residents to vote today help it win major funding for a new project.

Royal Voluntary Service (formerly WRVS) is calling on people in the Tyne Tees area to help them win a £50,000 grant to set up a new service to help older people in Wooler.

The charity has been shortlisted for ITV’s People’s Millions award, a partnership between ITV and the Big Lottery fund in which the public will help to decide which community project wins the funding.

If successful in winning the vote, Royal Voluntary Service will put the funds towards a vital new service called Men in the Workshop.

The project will provide social opportunities for older men in rural communities to help prevent isolation and help them to stay active in the local community.
