On one of the finest summer days in recent memory and while Andy Murray was winning at Wimbledon, white sail cruiser Chaos won the Royal Northumberland Yacht Club’s 2013 Alnwick Rum Run Trophy.

In second place in the event at the club’s marina in the Port of Blyth was Émigré, while the spinnaker class was won by Shotgun VI.

Mike Wade, the club’s Vice Commodore and Tony Blenkinsop, acting sailing secretary, expressed their satisfaction with the turn-out considering the sporting distractions of the day.

Spirit of Northumberland Ltd, which produces Alnwick Rum, is keen to develop its burgeoning relationship with the yacht club and the sailing world in general.
