Students boost lifeboat appeal

James Calvert Spence College, Amble, students Emily Fairbairn and Drew Tailford (South Avenue) and Joel Tailford and Mollydee Mitchell (Acklington Road) presented a cheque to Eleanor Cassidy and Linda Siney, from the Amble Lifeboat Fundraisers, for £2,153.58.

It followsa year of fund-raising for the Shannon Appeal, which aims to raise £200,000 towards the cost of a new lifeboat for the town, replacing the current Mersey class boat The Four Boys.

JCSC students got behind the campaign following a presentation by local RNLI volunteers.

Their fund-raising included a sponsored walk, non-uniform events, Christmas jumper day, collections and donations from the Christmas Reivew and the annual JCSC Festival.
