Gazette readers have been braving the elements to capture some of the dramatic scenes caused by today’s severe weather.
North Northumberland has been taking a battering from gale force winds, large waves and a tidal surge caused by low pressure combined with high tides.
Pictures from seahouseswebsite.co.uk show massive waves swamping Seahouses north pier and the Powder House on the outer rocks, and water flooding onto Seahouses golf course and the dunes footpath.
High water at Amble harbour was pictured by Geoff Edwards.
Meanwhile, photos posted on Twitter by Kath Anderson show Holy Island pier submerged by the sea and the beach under water.
Will Scott, @dub_birder, posted a dramatic picture of the submerged Inner Farne jetty and walkways, which are usually several metres above the high tide mark.
