A CONTROVERSIAL supermarket scheme in Amble is set to get the go-ahead, if county councillors agree with planning officers’ recommendations.
At the end of last year, Northumberland Estates and development partner Tesco submitted a reserved matters application to Northumberland County Council for a new store in the town, after outline planning permission was granted in 2009.
The proposed development is for a 30,000sqft supermarket with a car park on land north of Queen Street and new access road across part of the Braid.
Now, planning officers have recommended that the reserved matters – which are based on the development’s scale and appearance – are also passed, subject to conditions, and approval by the county council’s Area Planning Committee – North.
Members of the committee will decide when it meets next Thursday at Alnwick Council Chamber on Clayport Street at 6pm.
