Last year's lantern parade.

An enchanting Grand Lantern Parade will make its way through Alnwick on Sunday, to light up the dark night in dazzling fashion.

The stunning spectacle will begin at 5.30pm and will be led by Spark, a magical live music, light and movement spectacular.

The procession will take the path around the edge of The Alnwick Garden before heading into Alnwick town, by moving out towards Bondgate Without before turning right and going through the Bondgate Tower and along Bondgate Within.

It will create a stunning visual feast and will finish in the Market Place in an incredible display of light and sound.

Bondgate Without and Within will be closed to traffic as the parade enters the town.

A Garden spokeswoman said: “This will be a night to remember and get you in the festive spirit.

“This is an outdoor event so please wear suitable warm clothing and bring a torch if you have one.”

Participants will line-up in the disabled car park, adjacent to Denwick Lane, from 5.15pm, for the 5.30pm start.

Those taking part can make a beautiful enchanted willow lantern with Santa’s elves on the theme of The Snow Queen this weekend at The Garden. They can then return on Sunday with their lantern for the parade.

Lanterns will cost £4 each, which includes all the materials and guidance needed.

Tickets for the lantern-making workshops can be purchased in advance or on the day at admissions.

Sessions will run on Saturday at 11.30am, 1.30pm, 3pm and 4.30pm. Advanced booking is advised.

The lantern-making sessions on Sunday have all sold out.
