Amble pensioner Jane Gregor has spoken of her delight after she received special 94th-birthday wishes from Prime Minister David Cameron. The great grandmother of four was sent a signed photograph of the Tory leader, as well as a letter congratulating her on the milestone. The correspondence also praised staunch Conservative Jane for her years of dedication to the party. The letter, which signs off ‘with all good wishes, David’, reads: ‘I am writing to wish you a very happy 94th birthday. This is a marvellous occasion and I send you my warmest congratulations. I would also like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to your many years of loyal support for our party. As party leader, it is always encouraging to hear of people, such as yourself, who have supported the party over so many decades’.
After receiving the letter and photograph, Jane, who turned 94 on August 24, said it was a nice birthday gift.
The opportunity came about after Amble Town Councillor Peter Robinson, who is also a Conservative, approached 10 Downing Street to see if there was anything that the party could do to mark Jane’s birthday.
