Shopping evening to support charity in memory of uncle

A Christmas shopping night is being held to raise funds for a hospice which helped a special uncle.

Hannah Braidford is hosting the event, at Lesbury Village Hall on Friday, December 5, in memory of her uncle Peter, who passed away at St Oswald’s Hospice in 2010, after suffering from pancreatic cancer.

Hannah said: “My uncle Peter had such a good, positive outlook on life and was always optimistic, even towards the end of his life. During his stay at St Oswald’s he wanted to raise money for the Hospice and asked friends and family to always remember the excellent care he received from the staff.

“I have made it my aim to support St Oswald’s Hospice each year in memory of my uncle as it is such a worthy charity. My mum, sister and I take part in the annual Alnmouth golf day which raises money for St Oswald’s and this is the second year running I have organised the Christmas shopping event. It was a huge success last year so I’m hoping it will be again this year.”

Local businesses have donated prizes for a raffle to be held on the night while there will also be prizes be a variety of stalls, perfect for finding a special Christmas gift.

Tickets cost £2.50, including a glass of sparkle, and are payable on the door. Under 12s go free. For more information contact laura elliott@stoswaldsuk.org or call 0191 246 9123.
