WINTER GARDENING: Proceedings at Shilbottle WI’s November meeting began with a short business meeting where dates and arrangements for various village Christmas and WI events were discussed.
Congratulations were given to those members who were successful in various crafts at the recent County Day at Wooler. Also, our darts team has once again reached the semi-finals of the regional tournament.
Our speaker this evening was Tom Pattinson who gave an informative and fascinating talk on the garden in winter.
This included tips about cuttings and propagating them, and what to do to try to ensure that plants survive the cold.
Tom brought along many plants to illustrate his talk and demonstrate what to do with cuttings.
Many members were surprised at just how much could be achieved in a winter garden.
Tom, very generously, also brought many cuttings along for members to take home and these were being planted all over Shilbottle last weekend.
Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, December 15, at 7.15pm in Shilbottle Community Hall, Grange Road, Shilbottle.
There will be no speaker as this is our Soup and Sweet evening where the committee provide supper for the members.
New members and visitors are always very welcome.
