SUGAR CRAFT: The ladies of Shilbottle WI were welcomed after the Christmas break with the news that the Darts A team is now in the area final for the third year in succession.
Current activities were arranged including next week’s meal at the Bengal Cottage. There was also a discussion about our contribution to Shilbottle’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations; suggestions put forward included an exhibition of Coronation memorabilia, a memory book’with personal contributions and the making of a special banner.
Our speaker this evening was Margery Read who gave a demonstration on sugar craft, a new craft for many members.
Magically, a blob of sugar paste was fashioned into a most beauriful rose with leaves and glitter.
It was then the turn of the members to make their own roses and many were pleasantly surprised by their first attempt at this skill. It was a very enjoyable session.
Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, February 16, at 7.15pm in Shilbottle Community Hall, Grange Road, Shilbottle.
Our speakers will be Mary and Elizabeth Davidson who will give a talk and demonstration on Food and Flowers.
New members and visitors are always very welcome.
