Determined slimmers have shed pounds to raise pounds for HospiceCare North Northumberland.
Members of the Slimming World groups in Alnwick, Amble and Felton took part in a sponsored six-week weight loss.
Their efforts have led to more than £2,300 being collected for the charity.
Amazingly, members from the three groups – around 300 people, although not all of them took part in the fund-raising for HospiceCare – shed 2,030 pounds, the equivalent of 145½ stones, during the nationwide initiative, known as Slim for Good. Lorna Daniels, who runs the Alnwick Slimming World group, said: “The members chose HospiceCare because it is a local charity and it is close to their members’ hearts, as they have either used it or come into contact with it.” The Alnwick group meets at the town’s Lindisfarne Adult Learning Centre on Mondays, at 9.30am and 7pm, as well as Thursdays at 5pm and 7pm. Amble’s group meets at the Dovecote Centre on Mondays at 5.30pm and 7.30pm, while Felton’s group meets in the village hall, on Thursdays, at 7pm.
