NORTH Northumberland has a new neighbourhood policing inspector.
Temporary Inspector Sharon Wilmore-Greaves will head up five teams of 24/7 officers, a team of neighbourhood beat managers and community support officers and a team of CID officers looking after Wooler, Seahouses, Berwick and the rural areas in between.
Sharon joined Northumbria Police 19 years ago as a PC at Forest Hall and detective at Wallsend, before switching to the crime management team at headquarters.
She spent time as an officer at Newcastle before returning to CID in Ashinton, where she was promoted to sergeant in the communications department in 2004.
During her career, she has also been seconded to Newcastle City Council crime and disorder reduction partnership and worked as a tutor sergeant for Northumberland.
Sharon said: “I feel absolutely privileged to lead such a passionate team of people who really work for the good of the area.
“The policing team here is like a small community and I believe that with my help, and my years of experience, the team will continue to provide a quality service to residents.”
