Serious incident at Northumberland quarry

Emergency services have been called to a serious incident at Harden Quarry at Biddlestone, near Rothbury.

Eyewitnesses have seen three appliances – one each from Rothbury, Alnwick and Amble – at the scene, and a Specialist Rescue Unit, as well as the North East Ambulance Service and Northumbria Police.

Rothbury county councillor Steven Bridgett said he was very concerned and believed that the fire crews were getting water from a hydrant in Netherton village.
