A TALENT competition has been launched in a seaside town with a top first prize up for grabs – and the deadline for entries has been extended.
The Masons Arms pub in Amble is searching for the hottest acts in the area and is offering the winner a mini-cruise for two to Amsterdam, if enough people apply.
The contest is called Amble Has Talent – Have You Got The Masons Factor? – and the deadline for entries has been changed from the end of this month to Monday, April 30.
Licensee Ann Smith said: “Everybody is down in the dumps over the way the country is at the moment, so we want to do a fun talent show. We are searching for local talent in Amble and you don’t just have to be a singer to enter. This opportunity is open to any individuals with talent, such as magicians, dancers or comedians.
“The first prize, with enough entrants, would be a mini-cruise to Amsterdam for two people, but for this we need enough people to apply.”
If there is enough interest, it is envisaged that the shows would kick-off at the pub in May and run over a few weeks, with contestants going in front of a panel of judges, leading up to a grand final. No drums are allowed in the contest.
The competition is open to anyone aged 18 and over and the maximum number of performers for each act is three.
Entry is £3 per person or per act and forms are available from the pub.
