Search for a county star set for a spectacular showdown at Alnwick theatre

THE quest to uncover the county’s top talent reaches an exciting climax tomorrow night, with the finalists set to do battle live on stage.

The race for the crown began in April as Northeast Press, in association with Northumberland County Council, launched Talent Northumberland 2012.

And now, the cream of the crop will go head-to-head at Alnwick Playhouse.

From the scores of hopefuls who entered the contest by sending in videos of their performances, the judges have whittled the competition down to 25 finalists.

The fight for the top spot is sure to be fierce, as there is a great prize up for grabs for the champion.

The winner will receive a 12-month management contract with One Voice Productions Ltd, which specialises in nurturing new talent.

And they will get the chance to perform at the Miss Northumberland final at Newton Hall on June 29.

Stuart Birkett, managing director of Northeast Press and Tweeddale Press, said: “The Talent Northumberland 2012 final looks like being an exciting event with fantastic performers from all parts of the county competing for a special prize. It’s clear from the standard of the finalists that Northumberland is truly a talented place.”

Tomorrow’s final starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £10, available from the Playhouse.
