Being appointed the new Head Girl and Head Boy of a school is no mean feat.
You have to go through a process which involves interviews, votes and putting your point of views across strongly, while remaining diplomatic.
The new Head Boy and Head Girl at the Duchess’s Community High School, Alnwick, are Simon Smith and Hannah Lamb.
Hannah, who also happens to be an outstanding singer and performer, thinks the opportunity is full of excitement, and looks forward to the academic year 2014/15.
Hannah says: “Not only is it such a privilege to have been appointed Head Girl, but it is an absolute honour to be surrounded by so many amazing, supportive people; both students and staff.
“As a Senior Student Team, we have become a unit in which we are all friends which makes the prospect of this year so exciting!
“As Head Girl, I’m looking forward to working alongside Simon and the rest of the Senior Student Team to improve sixth-form life for everyone – whether this is the little things, like bringing new resources to the study areas, or through fun activities and events that make our stressful times a little bit easier to get through together!
“As we’re all in the same boat with applying for university or for jobs/apprenticeships, I feel that, as a team, we can relate to the rest of the sixth-form students.
“Hopefully, we can provide a helping hand for others to offload their stress onto or to come to us for help and advice.
“I can’t wait to get into the swing of things and really make a difference for this year’s students.”
