New arrivals are moving into a village next week, but they won’t be staying long.

Scarecrows will be taking up residence outside businesses in Longframlington as part of a growing event.

Longframlington Junior Show is being held in the Memorial Hall on Saturday, May 16, with a plant sale, classes for youngsters and a dog show.

This year, businesses have been invited to make a scarecrow to put outside their premises to promote the show.

There will be a rosette for the winning business scarecrow and, on the day itself, a prize for the best village straw character.

The scarecrows will be on show outside the Memorial Hall from 1.30pm.

The dog show, with categories including waggiest tail and best biscuit catcher, also starts at 1.30pm on the field next to the hall.

Events inside the hall open at 2pm with the junior show and sale of bedding plants, as well as a tombola, raffle and refreshments.

The event is being held as a fund-raiser for the annual Longframlington Show, which takes place later in the year.
