Two new crossing patrol officers have been appointed to support youngsters at schools in Alnwick.
JohnTate and Rosalee Cook-Jury will be helping children cross the roads by St Paul’s First and Middle Schools, on South Road, and Lindisfarne Middle School. It is the first time in around six years that officers have been in the positions.
Coun Ian Swithenbank, policy board member for streetcare and environment at Northumberland County Council, said: “The fact we now have dedicated crossing patrol staff at these two schools is great news for the local community and all the pupils who attend Lindisfarne and St Paul’s.
We hope more community-minded residents will apply for these positions as we always need people to come forward so that the network of school crossing patrols can be maintained across the county.”
