An Amble-based safety consultant who has been utilised all over the world by clients wishing to reduce accidents has been recognised with a prestigious industry award.

Bruce Durham, of Humanise Limited, has received chartered safety practitioner status by IOSH (The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health), the UK’s chartered governing body for safety.

He was honoured with the accolade based on qualifications gained over the past eight years and the results that he has delivered on a global scale.

Bruce, who has led the company to a number of training awards, as well as being named Entrepreneur of the year in 2011, said his qualification comes from real-life application of systems in some of the most dangerous work environment in industry.

“I am very much a workplace results-orientated person,” he said.

“I want to do the job rather than have the qualification to say that I could do the job.

“I am lucky that my work has taken me all over the world, and this allowed me to amass a very credible work-based portfolio of evidence that I used in my quest to gain chartered status.”

Bruce firmly believes that the chartered status will now help the company to win more corporate and strategic contracts.

He added: “Humanise is now operating with clients who are based in Europe and the Middle East.

“In order to meet our targets, we are looking for another proven telesales-based person to join a growing team.

“While we are looking at recruiting regionally, it would be great to source the correct candidate from the local area, so if anyone reading this has a proven background in telesales, please contact us.

“We have just been awarded some national contracts to deliver training that reduces accidents in the workplace, and are keen to keep the momentum moving by increasing our workforce in order to gain new contracts. Humanise has recently delivered accident-reduction consultancy services to large blue-chip clients such as Balfour Beatty, Royal Mail, Pyeroy and Amec.”

Anyone who would like to apply for the role should send their CV to Alexander.jones@humanise.org.uk
