Reopening toilets tilin discussion

The parish council is still discussing the reopening of the Riverside toilets.

Coun Gilson said he had tried to arrange a meeting with Ian Hedley at Northumberland County Council, but had not been successful in doing so. He added that there were ways in which the parish council could take the facilities on.

Praise for war tributes

Parish councillors praised the efforts by all involved in Rothbury’s First World War commemorations at All Saints’ Church. Coun Gilson said the council would be writing to Rev Michael Boag to thank him and the huge team that put the flower festival and exhibition together.

“My family and I thought that what was in that church was absolutely fantastic,” he said. Other councillors echoed his comments.

Rothbury to be dementia-friendly

A group is to be set up in Rothbury to make the village dementia-friendly. Coun Gilson told the meeting that he thought it was a ‘excellent idea’ and said it would support a lot of residents.

Coun Caroline Dawson added: “There are a lot of people who suffer from it.”
