Kind-hearted Rotarians have bought an emergency shelter and vital supplies to help victims of the Nepal earthquake disaster.
At last week’s meeting of The Rotary Club of Amble and Warkworth, members agreed to purchase a ShelterBox, which costs around £500.
The ShelterBox contains a tent, as well as cooking utensils and other essential items designed to allow an extended family to survive for some months.
A spokesman for the club said: “We unanimously agreed to buy a ShelterBox to help with the devastation caused by the catastrophic earthquake in Nepal.
“Although this may seem a small donation given the scale of the tragedy, Rotary clubs throughout the world are responding with help, and ShelterBox has already despatched 500 shelter kits to Kathmandu.”
