It was another ‘hands-on’ session for the December meeting of Roddam WI, when Janet welcomed members and our good friend Margaret Smith who had come to demonstrate edible Christmas decorations.
She showed us how to make a Santa from marzipan and had brought ready-made cup cakes for us to decorate with marzipan.
The business of the meeting consisted of reports from the Samaritans for our shoebox contributions and, as always, their thanks for our support, and thanks from Wooler First School for our help with their poppy making.
Janet had a photo of the winning scarecrow at the Heighley Gate event.
The recent concert held to raise funds for our delegates to go to the annual meeting had been a great success.
Janet was pleased to report that the proceeds had been shared equally between the Institutes in the Cheviot group.
The monthly notices were given and Janet asked everyone to be sure to return their resolutions form to the secretary as soon as possible so they can be forwarded to Federation.
The competition for an old Christmas decoration was won by Mary Mathewson (J) with Jennifer Scott second, and Margaret Atkinson in third.
We have no meeting in January but February will be our annul pies, peas and puds meeting, which is always a good opportunity for a sociable evening.
