Our president Mrs Janet Laycock welcomed members to our August meeting and the minutes of the last meeting were signed.
The ‘pop-up’ shop at Glanton had been popular and an interesting innovation.
Some members had visited Brizlee WI as guests and had a lovely evening with a demo by a florist using flowers from the garden.
Our teas at the Glendale Festival had been very successful as usual and we have given a donation to next year’s festival.
Our entry for the Glendale Show was discussed. There will be a further meeting to discuss the finer details.
Our speaker for the evening was our local paramedic team leader Steve, who told us about how the service operates. He also spoke about defibrillators and how they work as they are now sited in many parts of our region.
It is important that the lay person should know how to operate them so that they can be used to save lives.
The competition for four pieces of tray bake was won by Mrs M Atkinson, 2 Mrs J Gray, 3 Mrs R Reed. The speaker at our next meeting on September 3 will be talking about the Women’s Land Army.
