Fire crews were called after a car burst into flames near Alnwick this afternoon.

The B6341 Alnwick Moor road, just before the turn-off to RAF Brizlee Wood, was closed for about an hour while the blaze was tackled.

Police said the fire is believed to have been caused by a petrol leak in the engine.

No one was hurt and the road was reopened when the car was removed.
