A LIFEBOAT station was presented with a cheque for almost £8,000 after a fund-raising campaign by stores across Northumberland.

Seahouses Lifeboat Station was visited by representatives of Co-operative in the North East as the RNLI had been its local chosen charity.

Money had been raised by a variety of means at local stores to support the RNLI.

Seahouses RNLI lifeboat fund-raising chairman Ian Fisher said: “This was a truly spectacular fund-raising effort and we are indebted to the staff at the Co-op stores for their efforts in raising this amount for the RNLI.”
