Today we can reveal the first results of our quest to bring together the things we love most about our region .

In a new series, we asked you, the readers, to vote for your favourite Northumberland castle, beach and view.

Readers of the Northumberland Gazette, Morpeth Herald, News Post Leader and Berwick Advertiser all had their say. We received an overwhelming amount of responses, both by post and online.

And some familiar names kept popping up, with Bamburgh appearing in all three of the top 10s.

Top 10 Beaches

Our search for the Top 10 beaches was our most popular of the three, sparking more than 300 votes online.

We gave you a shortlist of 30 from which to choose.

Results were: 1 Cambois; 2 Druridge; 3 Bamburgh; 4 Alnmouth; 5 Newton; 6 Blyth; 7 Beadnell; 8 Warkworth; 9 Embleton; 10 Sugar Sands.

Top 10 views

As with the beaches and castles, the views of the county proved very popular, sparking much interest.

Although we compiled a selection of 30, readers came up with their own suggestions, like Alnwick Castle.

Results were: 1 Bamburgh; 2 Blyth; 3 Farne Islands and Alnmouth Beach; 5 Holy Island; 6 Dunstanburgh; 7 Coquet Island; 8 Alwinton; 9 Cragside; 10 Corby Crags.
