CURRY fans in a north Northumberland village celebrated the first anniversary of an Indian restaurant, presenting it with a new award.
Spice Village in Wooler opened a year ago and the local curry club joined the restaurant in a special celebration night which ended with the presentation.
Spice Village has become the focus for a monthly meeting of up to 30 curry enthusiasts, who come together to enjoy a feast of different dishes enjoyed on a shared-by-all basis.
The curry club has been so delighted by the service it has received from the restaurant that members decided they would like to give something back to Spice Village.
Claire Ward, club coordinator, said: “We came up with the idea of an award in the vein of an Egon Ronay or Diner’s Club where you get a sticker to display in your window.”
