Twenty copies of the Quick Read Four Warned, by Jeffrey Archer, were received by Till & Glendale Rotarian Margaret Ling, from the Reading Agency on 2014 World Book Night, to send to young adults learning English as a foreign language in Brazil, India and Uzbekistan.
World Book Night is an annual celebration of books and reading which sees passionate volunteers give away hundreds of thousands of books to share their love of reading with people who do not own books.
Kelvin Rushworth, of TeeYenJee EnSeeYell Books, an international service project of the Rotary Club of Till & Glendale, said: “Since the launch of the project in November 2013, Rotary Internation Foundation Month, we have posted almost 80 books to Elvio (Orlandia, Brazil), Bhaskar (Coimbatore, India) and Jonibek (Qulqishloq, Uzbekistan) to distribute to struggling and impoverished young adults who are trying to improve their reading, pronunciation and understanding of English.
“Receiving 20 books from World Book Night was a real boost to our efforts. Passionate reading individuals who want to share their love of books in 2015 should register with www.worldbook night.org”
