Reaching high

A FORMER Rothbury nurse is preparing for a Himalayan expedition in a bid to boost the health of women and their babies.

Ellen Crossley, who recently retired from Rothbury Community Hospital, will spend six days walking in the Himalayan Annapurnas to raise cash for the Genesis Research Trust to fund the training of women specialists in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a range of devastating conditions affecting women and their babies.

It is a cause close to Ellen, 52, as her daughter Tanith Macleod, grandsons Sebastian and Tobias, and nephew Edward Carter were threatened by such conditions.
