BARRELS are being rolled out ready to kick-start this year’s Alnwick Beer Festival.
Organised by Alnwick and District Round Table, the annual event, will once again take place in Alnwick Town Hall on Saturday, September 24, and Sunday, September 25, coinciding with Alnwick Food Festival in the Market Place.
With 30 beers, ciders, and more, it is sure to be a winner.
Iain Stewart, director of the beer festival, said: “Dickinson Dees, where I work, sponsored the Tynedale Beer Festival and after being involved in that I thought we could do it in Alnwick.
“We developed that and five years ago, we held the first festival. We have gone from strength to strength and have a definite advantage being with the food festival, it works so well.
“At the moment everything seems to be going according to plan and the guys are all behind it.”
Beers from breweries across the North East will be on offer and after last year’s complete sell-out, more barrels of the favourites have been ordered to meet demand.
New for this year will be Thistly Cross Cider whose drinks include strawberry and whisky-flavoured ciders, bringing a Scottish theme to the event. And to soak up the drink, Turnbull’s of Alnwick will be providing food once again.
Tickets to the beer festival cost £5, including a programme and souvenir glass. It runs from 11am to 11pm on Saturday and noon to 6pm on Sunday. Beer tokens cost £5 for four and each token is worth half a pint.
