A north Northumberland man was killed after being struck by a train near Alnmouth last night.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Our officers were called to the rail-line close to Wooden Gate level crossing, shortly after 10pm on Thursday, October 2, after a report that a person had been struck by a train.
“Paramedics from the North East Ambulance Service also attended, and a 40-year-old man, from Amble, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is currently not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner. The man’s family has been informed.”
