Quiz night raises hundreds for fund

THE Wooler Doctors’ Fund has received a big cash boost.

A fund-raising quiz night held at the Angel Inn in Wooler at the end of last month raised £400.

Organised by paramedic Steve Jones, the evening, which was well supported by teams from Wooler and the surrounding area, was the usual mixture of light-hearted fun and serious brain exercise.

The winners by a short head were a team made up of local police officers.

The Wooler Doctors’ Fund trustees want to thank Steve, all his helpers and everyone who took part or made donations for the excellent boost to the funds.

All donations to the fund are used by the two doctors’ practices based at the Cheviot Medical Centre in Wooler to providie equipment and services in addition to those provided by the NHS.

In 2011, the fund spent more than £4,000.
