A TEAM of crafters has raised more than £1,000 for a life-saving charity.

Each member of the Coquetdale Quilters contributed to making a colourful quilt which was raffled at the Pins and Needles Show held at Gosforth Park racecourse in Newcastle.

And they managed to raise £1,200 for the Great North Air Ambulance, due to the generosity of visitors to the show, members of the group and Margaret Lever and Joan Gibson who volunteered to sell raffle tickets.

The show was organised by Alison Lough, of Initial J Promotions, and the draw was held at the end.

Lucky ticket 191, bought by Ann Marchbanks from Richmond, North Yorkshire, won the prize and she was presented with the quilt at the Newcastle House Hotel in Rothbury.

A presentation of the cheque to the air ambulance was also made.

Coquetdale Quilters meet in the church hall in Rothbury on the afternoons of the fourth and second Wednesdays each month.
