Alnmouth pushed the boat out to give people the chance to take to the water.
The River Aln Boat Club (RABC) invited folk to try boating for free as part of the nationwide RYA Push the Boat Out event.
RABC skippers on the Aln estuary offered a choice of sailing, rowing or motoring. More than 90 people made about 100 boating trips. About half had never been on the water before.
“Judging by the smiles and the thanks there were some very happy first timers,” said John Taylor, RABC event coordinator.
The event was opened by Conservative Parliamentary candidate Anne-Marie Trevelyan. The parish council and burgage holders loaned a marquee, Alnmouth Community Rowing took along its rowing skiff and Coquet Shorebase Trust lent the floatation devices.
The event was free but the RABC is asking for donations to RNLI Amble.
