Firefighters and police officers will be visiting schools around the county, including Alnwick, Embleton, Felton, Whittingham, Rothbury and Hipsburn, to warn pupils about the dangers of fireworks and bonfires.
Chief fire officer Alex Bennett said: “The enjoyment is often overshadowed by injuries caused by fireworks or unauthorised bonfires.
“We encourage people taking part in Bonfire Night to attend organised displays for their own safety and the safety of others. These events are much safer and more impressive than having fireworks at your own home.”
Northumberland County Council’s neighbourhood services team is prepared to remove unauthorised bonfires from public land around the county.
Environmental health and health and safety officers have also issued warnings about adding dangerous and toxic items to bonfires in gardens.
