Pubs goes batty for charity at Hallowe’en

An Alnwick pub has chosen a very appropriate charity to support this Hallowe’en – the Bat Conservation Trust.

The Alnwick Arms has decided to collect money for the charity during its two-day Hallowe’en party, tomorrow and Saturday.

Manager Geoff Dade has a special connection with the Trust – last year he found a baby bat in the pub garden.

He placed it in a box to keep it warm and safe from predators, and contacted the Trust who put him in contact with the Northumberland Bat Group.

The pub will have collection tins during the event, and will also be offering badges in return for donations.

Geoff has also invented a special Bat Out Of Hell cocktail for the party, and £1 from every sale will go to the charity.

The party nights include a spooky disco, ‘scary-oke’, games, prizes for fancy dress and a charity tombola.
