Alnwick resident Mrs M Watson will be celebrating a cosy winter, thanks to Rix Petroleum Ltd and the Northumberland Gazette.

Mrs Watson was the lucky winner of 500 litres of heating oil worth around £250 from the Rix Petroleum’s Alnwick depot, in a competition run through the newspaper.

She took delivery of the oil earlier this month, ensuring she is fully stocked up for winter.

Mrs Watson had entered the competition because her oil tank gauge was low and she needed to stock up for the colder weather. She said that she hadn’t expected to win and was absolutely thrilled to find out that she had.

She said: “It is going to take us right through the winter and means that we will be lovely and snug. I’m so glad I decided to enter.”

Tim Claxton, manager of Rix Petroleum’s Alnwick depot, congratulated Mrs Watson on her win.

He said: “We like to bring some festive cheer to the season by giving people the opportunity to win 500 litres of fuel, delivered free to their door. After all, it’s a good feeling to know you are fully prepared for all the British weather can throw at you.

“It was a great pleasure to deliver to Mrs Watson and I’m delighted she was the lucky and deserving winner.”
