The Rotary Club of Alnwick had good reason to celebrate when club member Terry Long was presented with one of the highest accolades in the Rotary world, a Paul Harris Fellowship, presented for service to Rotary.

Terry started his Rotary life in Halifax when he joined the lunch-time Club in 2000 and it wasn’t long before his infectious ‘can do’ attitude became evident to all.

President of The Rotary Club of Halifax, Peter Lloyd said: “We were sad when Terry left us to move to Northumberland, but we are delighted he has continued with his good work in Rotary at Alnwick and that he is being recognised for his service to Rotary.”

Terry is in his final year as Assistant District Governor for Rotary District 1030 and also holds the position of District Governor Nominee after which he will be the District Governor in 2015/16.

The current District 1030 Governor Dave Saddler from the Rotary Club of Saltburn was also at the club to bring his message of support for the coming Rotary year.

He said: “I am really happy to have been at your meeting when such an award was given. Terry gives lots of time to Rotary and deserves the recognition of a Paul Harris Fellowship.”
