The chairman of Alnwick Chamber of Trade has congratulated the county council, Alnwick in Bloom, the town council and other organisations involved for an astounding floral display in the town this year.

Carlo Biagioni said: “I would like to say that the colours and quality of the baskets and planters have been excellent and by far the best for years.

“Shoppers have told us that the number of baskets and the quality of the displays are better than ever this year.

“I would like to thank all of the independent retailers in the town taking part.

“However, we think we need to work harder and try to persuade the national chains to take part next year.

Alnwick Tourism Association spokesman David Taylor added that the feedback from visitors has been really positive. “Thanks to everyone concerned in showing our town to its best effect,” he said.
