Engineers at Northern Powergrid are responding to power outages throughout the Alnwick area after a series of interruptions left homes and businesses without power throughout the afternoon.
The company took to Twitter to apologise ‘about the powercuts in the NE66 and NE67 area.’ and added just after 5.15pm that engineers are ‘still investigating the situation’.
The cause of the power outages is currently unknown but was happening at intervals between 4pm and 5pm.
Northern Powergrid, the company responsible for running the electricity network across the North East, later assured its customers that it is prepared should the weather affect its network following Met Office warnings of severe weather, including gale force winds, in the next few days.
