Power cut hits village

MORE than 1,000 homes in a north Northumberland village were without power for around seven hours on Tuesday night.

The power cut out in Beadnell at 4.50pm and was restored just before midnight using generators.

A spokeswoman for NEDL said that engineers were searching for an underground cable fault and that it would be repaired as soon as possible. The 1,008 properties affected would remain on generator power until the repairs were made.
