A chart-topping urban music star is set to perform a DJ set at an Alnwick nightclub next month.

Tinchy Stryder, who has released three solo albums since 2007, will present his Insomniacs DJ set at I Won’t Tell on Friday, July 5.

It represents a big coup for the nightspot as the 26-year-old Ghanaian-born Brit from London is a major star, with two UK number-one singles and a further three top-ten singles to his name.

His second album, Catch 22, also reached the number-two spot in the UK charts back in 2009.

Stryder’s fourth, and perhaps final album, as he wants to turn his attention to his burgeoning business empire, is slated for release this year.

The news of his appearance in Alnwick was revealed via Facebook on Tuesday night when a poster appeared advertising the event.

And on Wednesday morning, a comment posted by I Won’t Tell confirmed his appearance.

“Yey, so on Friday 5th July we will be welcoming Tinchy Stryer to I WONT TELL, it’s taken some work and organising, but we are so chuffed!” it read.

Advance tickets for the event cost £8.50 and will be available from tomorrow from Alnwick Squash Club or Hotpsur Residential.

Tickets will also be available online.

The club is also offering a a VIP package for £120, which includes six VIP tickets, a bottle of Grey Goose vodka and a bottle of Prosecco.

I Won’t Tell has developed quite a following in the town and beyond since it first opened last summer.

And while Stryder is the biggest name to be welcomed to the venue so far, back in early April, Jack Eye Jones, one of the country’s most high-profile DJs, who has packed out clubs in London and Ibiza, performed at the venue.
