POLITICS: Shocked by this alliance

I am writing in support of Catherine Roskam’s letter, (Northumberland Gazette, July 13).

I was shocked when Theresa May stood outside 10 Downing Street after she had visited Buckingham Palace saying that her party, the Conservative and Unionist Party, was making an alliance with the Democratic Unionist Party of Northern Ireland.

Very seldom does the Conservative Party use its full title in this way.

She thus linked herself with one section of the population of Northern Ireland, the policies of which many people in the rest of the UK find abhorrent.

Now we find that Theresa May’s Government has authorised public funds, money from taxpayers like you and me dear readers, to bolster her minority government.

This is why I am supporting Ciaran McClean’s judicial review. He is challenging the Government’s agreement with the DUP because it threatens the Good Friday Agreement and is using taxpayers’ money to do so.

If you feel the same abhorrence, Google Ciaran McClean and support this review.
