Police take action as residents speak out

Police in the Morpeth sector have been tackling speeding and anti-social behaviour after speaking to residents about issues affecting them.

During the past month, 866 vehicle checks have been carried out at Acklington, West Thirston, Longhorsley, Widdrington, Ulgham, Pegswood, A165 Stobhill Green Lane, Hepscott, Stannington, Tranwell, Scots Gap and Cambo.

This action resulted in three warnings being issued.

On top of this, a one-day operation was carried out together with the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency and Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.

This resulted in 33 vehicles being stopped and checked, leading to three prohibition notices issued and two motorists being required to submit their driving documents for inspection.

All vehicles were dipped for red diesel, with a negative result.
