Police step up search for missing Northumberland woman

Police are becoming increasingly concerned for missing Berwick woman Katie Grout.

Officers continue to ask for the public’s help to trace Katie, 23, from Berwick, who was reported as missing since leaving her home in the town at 7am yesterday.

She is described as white, five feet five inches tall, very slim build, with shoulder-length brown hair and a small scar under her chin. She was wearing black and white checked trousers, black long sleeved top and grey boots.

Katie left home driving her silver Vauxhall Corsa, registration DY61 HJJ. She was spotted near Harthill Service Station on the M8 and is believed to be travelling to Glasgow.

Superintendent Scott Hall said: “We appeal to Katie, or anyone who may know where she is, to contact us straight away. We believe she may have been in the Glasgow area and ask for anyone that recogonises her description or who may have seen her to contact police. Katie’s family and friends are concerned for her welfare and are keen for her to make contact with them as soon as possible to let them know she’s safe and well.”
