POlICE in Alnwick have seized the car of a 20-year-old local man, following complaints about the way he was driving through the town centre.
Officers stopped the vehicle, a Seat Leon, at South Road after concerned members of the public spotted it heading at speed along Bondgate Without. It was then taken away under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act, which deals with anti-social driving.
Acting Inspector Graham Vickers said: “This vehicle was seen by a member of the public being driven at high speed in the town and was subsequently stopped by officers. It was then seized and removed by a recovery vehicle to be impounded. The owner will have to pay to release it.
“We will continue to target anti-social drivers, to reduce the risk of serious injury or deaths on our roads, as well as prevent anti-social driving by young people.”
