Police are appealing for information after a lamb was attacked and killed in Northumberland.

Police received a report that the animal at a farm in Christon Bank, near Alnwick, had been found dead following the incident, which happened between 9pm last Thursday and 9.30am the following day.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said that, at this stage, it is believed that the injuries were caused by a dog and it is possible that someone may have been with the dog at the time of the attack.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information to help is asked to contact police. Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, or have any information to help is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 0365 08/04/16
