Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted shed burglary in a north Northumberland town.

It happened about 3.40am on Thursday, January 16, at Dandsfield Square, in Amble, when the metal bar locking the shed was damaged.

The suspect made off when disturbed by the homeowner.

Neighbourhood inspector Paul Truscott said: “We’re carrying out enquiries into this burglary and would ask any witnesses or anyone with information about it to get in touch.

“I’d like to remind residents to be vigilant and report anything unusual or suspicious they see in their community to police.”

The advice forms part of Operation Soundwave, aimed at keeping thieves and burglars at bay and promoting crime prevention advice.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 120 16/01/14, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
