Pipe band seeks former members and families for jubilee event

Organisers of Rothbury Highland Pipe Band Diamond Jubilee Celebration Day are searching for former members and their families for the event next week.

They are currently trying to contact the following people: Eric Marshal, believed to be from Longframlington; John Mclean, also in Longframlington; family of Roy Chandler (deceased); family of Davy Pringle (deceased); family of Stan Mendrum (deceased); family of Bill Charlton (deceased); family of Sergeant Wilf Young (deceased).

The jubilee celebrations start at the Coquetvale Hotel at 2pm on Saturday, July 4. The band will do a tour around the village, visiting The Railway at 3pm, the Queen’s Head at 4pm, the Newcastle House at 5pm and the Turk’s Head at 6pm – all times approximate.

There will be a formal presentation to the band in the Turk’s Head at 7pm, followed by a hog roast and an informal musical evening. Everybody welcome, including musicians. We would particularly like to welcome anyone who has, or has had, a connection to the band. Further information from 01669 620274.
